Alzheimer’s & Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin gives financial assets to community organizations

After revealing it would be closing for good this summer, the Alzheimer’s & Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin said Thursday that its remaining financial assets will be transferred to other organizations that support dementia research and care.

ADAW Executive Director Jeff Hamm and Board President Carol Koby explained the nonprofit’s assets will go on to support participants in dementia studies and outreach in Dane County’s African American community, as well as care in nursing homes and community-based residential facilities. Funds will be transferred to five community organizations:

Hospice Leaders to Lawmakers: Strengthen CMS Oversight of Accreditors

Individuals in several states have been securing hospice licenses only to turn them around in a quick sale. A number of these hospices are accredited, prompting calls for greater oversight of organizations with deeming authority.

A surge of newly licensed hospices has swelled in California, Arizona, Texas and Nevada. Many of these have been accused of gaming the Medicare system and delivering poor-quality care.

Community Invited to Agrace’s Dodgeville Office Ribbon Cutting, Open House

With more than a decade of experience caring for people in southwest Wisconsin who are in the final months of life, Agrace Hospice Care is celebrating the completion of its new Dodgeville office location.

The community is invited to a Dodgeville Chamber ribbon cutting ceremony and open house at Agrace, 316 W. Spring Street in Dodgeville on Wednesday, May 24, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with the Chamber ribbon cutting at 4:45 p.m. Immediately following the ribbon cutting, attendees are welcome to join the Dodgeville Chamber “5:01 Connect” meeting at Agrace. All are welcome.

Agrace to Hold ‘Giving Day’ March 29

If someone you know is aging, seriously ill, dying or grieving, they can turn to Agrace for support. A local, nonprofit, community-supported health care organization, Agrace is well-known for its hospice care and supportive (palliative) care services. People also rely on Agrace after the death of a loved one, because its community grief support is open to everyone—and Agrace relies on community donations to make this possible.

Across southern Wisconsin, Agrace provides personalized care and support for life’s changing health needs, including care for people who cannot pay. To ensure all area residents have access to its services, the nonprofit is holding Agrace Giving Day: A 24-hour Giving Challenge to Sustain Care, Support, Hope and Healing, on March 29.

Agrace Receives 2023 Top Workplaces USA Award

Today Agrace announced it has earned the 2023 Top Workplaces USA award, issued by Energage. Agrace was named #79 of the top 100 companies in the country among those with an employee base of 500 to 999 workers. The Madison-based health care nonprofit employs more than 850 people who work to fulfill its mission of providing hospice care, supportive care, non-medical senior care, adult day services and grief support.

Winners of the Top Workplaces USA list are chosen based solely on employee feedback gathered through an employee engagement survey issued by Energage. In the past 16 years, the Top Workplaces program has surveyed more than 20 million employees and recognized the top organizations across 60 markets for regional Top Workplaces awards. Energage results are calculated by comparing the survey’s research-based statements, including 15 Culture Drivers that are proven to predict high performance, against industry benchmarks.
