Agrace’s three (soon to be four!) thrift stores are resale shops located in southern Wisconsin that provide quality apparel and home furnishings at a fair price. Proceeds from the stores help support services offered by Agrace Hospice & Palliative Care, a nonprofit, community-based health care agency.

COMING SOON! In October, the Agrace Thrift Home Store will open at 1946 S. Stoughton Road, Madison. The store will be your one-stop shop for home décor, furniture and fabulous deals. Proceeds from this store are directed specifically to help fund Agrace’s grief support programming for the community. Stay tuned for more details or follow us on Facebook.

A Place to Donate, Shop & Volunteer

The Agrace thrift stores sell quality merchandise donated by the community. The dollars generated help fund essential Agrace programs, such as Care for All (free or discounted care for patients who qualify), specialized staff education and grief support groups that are open to anyone who needs them.

The stores:

  • give people in the community a place to donate unneeded possessions, receive tax benefits and support a charitable cause;
  • provide a meaningful volunteer experience that includes training, recognition and the chance to work alongside other dedicated volunteers;
  • offer shoppers good values and an exceptional thrift shopping experience—with clean, bright stores and quality gently used merchandise; and
  • build awareness of Agrace’s supportive services for people facing serious and life-limiting illnesses.

Agrace thrift stores accept donations every day, during regular store hours. We accept gently used, clean and resalable items only. Please check the lists below to be sure we accept the type of goods you’d like to donate.

Donations of merchandise to the Agrace thrift stores are tax deductible. Receipts are provided for tax purposes. Our handy donation value guide can help you decide a fair value of your donation for tax purposes. You can feel great about donating, because when the items are sold, the proceeds help support Agrace’s nonprofit mission. Thank you!

Volunteer with Us

Volunteers are the heart of our stores and provide the majority of staff hours. Our main volunteer roles are described below. If you’d like to learn more, please visit any of the thrift stores and talk with the store manager, email us, or call Agrace Volunteer Services at (608) 327-7163.

Prospective volunteers complete a phone interview process, submit an application, and attend an orientation to learn more about Agrace and the important ways in which volunteers contribute to our mission. Call today for more information!

There are lots of ways to help!
  • Operate the cash register: Greet customers, operate the cash register, answer the phone and assist customers.
  • Sort new donations: Assist donors with incoming donations; sort donations and prepare them for pricing.
  • Price donations: Sort, clean and price merchandise, such as housewares, kitchen-ware, glassware, home décor, clothing, bedding, quilts, tablecloths and towels.
  • Price collectibles and vintage items: Use the Internet to research and price the more valuable and collectible donations we receive.

Volunteers commit to four-hour shifts:
Monday – Saturday: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. or 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Sunday: noon – 4 p.m.
Or an evening shift  Monday – Thursday: 4:30 p.m. – 7 p.m.

We ask for a once-a-week commitment for shifts on Monday through Friday. Or volunteer for a shift every other weekend. We accept and welcome time-off requests. A commitment of at least six months is appreciated. Many volunteers have been with us for six years or more, which shows how much they enjoy their roles.
