There are four Agrace resale stores in south central Wisconsin offering quality merchandise at thrifty prices. Whether you’re shopping for furniture, home décor, clothes, housewares, collectibles, books or gifts, you can find quality items at a fair price! Visit our three traditional thrift stores in Madison and Janesville, or the Agrace Thrift Home Store, which focuses on furniture and décor.

Donate, Shop or Volunteer

When you donate, shop or volunteer at any of our stores, you are supporting Agrace, a nonprofit, community-based health care agency that serves patients and clients across southern Wisconsin. Proceeds from these stores support Agrace’s mission of compassionate care, which includes hospice, supportive care, adult daytime care, non-medical senior care and grief support. The Agrace Thrift Home Store’s sales help fund Agrace’s grief support services for the community. Thank you!

Home Store Storewide Tag Sale

Each time you visit Agrace Thrift Home Store, look for select colored tags to get the best deals. On our first business day of each month, we mark down select merchandise by 20 to 40 percent! The prices stay that low for the rest of the month (if no one else snaps up the deal sooner). Visit us often for best selection, and follow us on Facebook or Instagram to see what’s new. You’re sure to find pieces that are perfect for your home—at a perfect price.

Thrifty Thursdays

Every Thursday, the three traditional thrift stores offer a different, special one-day sale. Thrifty Thursdays are publicized on our Facebook and Instagram pages. Like our Madison-East, Madison-West and  Janesville pages, and you, too, can get in on the Thursday deals!

Gift Cards

Share your love of thrifting with a friend or two by purchasing gift cards for the Agrace Thrift Store! Gift cards are available at all store locations at $10, $20, $50 or $100. Your gift card purchase not only supports the stores (and Agrace) but also lets you give a friend a unique gift.

Thrifty Shopper Club Card

For frequent shoppers, our punch cards offer extra savings. For every $10 you spend at the store, you get one punch on your card. After 14 punches, redeem a completed card for a $10 discount on your next visit. You can earn punches at the three traditional thrift stores only, but you can redeem a completed card at any store, including the Thrift Home Store. Thrifty Shopper Club Cards never expire.

Sign up to get our emails, which include details about upcoming promotions, events and our quarterly newsletter, “The Agrace Savvy Shopper.” It has notices of weekly store specials and upcoming events, plus interesting articles about the people who make our stores tick!

Donations

You can drop off donations during our store hours. We accept gently used, clean and resalable items only. We cannot accept items that are soiled, smoky, damaged, too large/heavy to handle safely, or contain pet hair.

Please check the lists below for donations accepted at our three traditional thrift stores in Madison and Janesville. To drop off furniture at our Thrift Home Store, 1946 S. Stoughton Road, Madison, please call ahead at (608) 327-7396.

Delivery Available

Wondering how to get that perfect couch, table, chair or floor lamp to your home? We can deliver your purchases anywhere in Dane County for a small fee—including downtown Madison and the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus area. Ask a cashier for details.

Beyond Good Design

There’s more to Agrace Thrift Home Store than fabulous deals. Proceeds help fund Agrace’s grief support services for the community, including the Agrace Grief Support Center. When you donate or shop here, you support Agrace’s nonprofit mission of quality care.

We make it easy for you to donate extra home goods, furniture and clothes. Our team will come to your home in Dane or Rock County, pack up the items you want to donate, then take them to one of the Agrace thrift stores for you!

What We Accept

Gently used, resaleable items, including accessories, books, collectibles, clothes, dishes, home décor, jewelry and linens (bedding, tablecloths, pillows, etc.)

No small stuff? That’s OK. We will also pick up large items like furniture, antiques, lamps, wall art, area rugs and large décor, too.

How It Works
  1. You can submit a request here, or call and leave a message at (608) 640-0139. 
  2. We contact you in the following few business days to schedule a packing day. 
  3. If you’re donating many items, we may schedule a home visit before packing day to create a plan for packing.
  4. We come to your home and pack with care, using our own supplies.
  5. We take donated items to the store.
  6. You are responsible for items that we cannot accept.
 

Holiday Pop-Up Shop

Shop with us from October 30 to November 30 to find gently used, donated items just right for holiday entertaining, giving and decorating. All purchases made at this store during the “season of giving” will help fund Agrace’s grief support services for the community, including the Agrace Grief Support Center in Fitchburg.

Volunteer with Us

Volunteers are the heart of our stores and provide the majority of staff hours. Our main volunteer roles are described below. If you’d like to learn more, please visit any of the thrift stores and talk with the store manager, email, or call Agrace Volunteer Services at (608) 327-7163.

Volunteer Application

Ways to help:
  • Customer service: Greet customers, operate the cash register, answer the phone and assist customers.
  • Sort new donations: Assist donors with incoming donations; sort donations and prepare them for pricing.
  • Price donations: Sort, clean and price merchandise, such as housewares, kitchen-ware, glassware, home décor, clothing, bedding, quilts, tablecloths and towels.
  • Price collectibles and vintage items: Use the Internet to research and price the more valuable and collectible donations we receive.
  • Stager: Stock merchandise and create attractive displays on the sales floor. Assist with moving furniture and staging furniture in our Home Store.
  • Packer: Visit donor homes to pack donated items into boxes that will be delivered to one of our thrift stores for resale.

Volunteers commit to four-hour shifts:
Monday – Saturday: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. or 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

We ask for a once-a-week commitment for shifts on Monday through Friday. Or volunteer for a shift every other Saturday. We accept and welcome time-off requests. A commitment of at least six months is appreciated. Many volunteers have been with us for six years or more, which shows how much they enjoy their roles.
