His faith lies in square corners and precise measurements, in the exquisite beauty of earthly design. Besides, he’s the son of doctors, well-versed in the limits of bone and flesh.

In E.M Forster’s novel, “A Room with a View,” an older woman and her young charge agreed on one thing: their stay in Florence would be untenable if they couldn’t have the promised room with a view of the River Arno. The same need for a view of nature proved crucial when my 95-year-old mother moved from her golf-course-adjacent condominium in Sarasota to an assisted living facility near me in Madison, Wis. As it turns out, life without a view is practically a jail sentence for older adults.

Agrace Hospice & Supportive Care is opening an adult day service center that will provide an array of support and clinical services to aging, chronically ill and dying populations and their families in the Madison, Wisc., and surrounding areas.

This spring the Madison area will see a new option for older adults who need company and daytime support. The Agrace Adult Day Center will provide daytime senior care for older adults who cannot, or choose not to, stay alone all day. This freestanding center is centrally located at 1702 W. Beltline Highway in Madison, and will be open weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Agrace is opening an adult day care center on Madison’s South Side, becoming the third facility in the city to offer the service, which can provide mental stimulation and reduce isolation for older adults while offering respite to family caregivers.
