Agrace Hospice & Palliative Care, the community’s nonprofit hospice since 1978, is expanding its grief support services by opening a standalone grief support center in Fitchburg. The new Agrace Grief Support Center is hosting a community open house on Thursday, September 14, 2017, from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. at the center, 2906 Marketplace Drive in Fitchburg. A ribbon cutting will take place at 4 p.m.

BARABOO, Wis. – When grieving the death of a loved one, it’s difficult to know what to expect. As local experts on issues involving death and dying, Agrace Hospice & Palliative Care is hosting free “Grief 101” presentations in Baraboo and Reedsburg on Thursday, September 7. The Reedsburg presentation will take place at the Reedsburg Library, 370 Vine Street, Reedsburg, from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. The Baraboo presentation will be at Agrace Hospice & Palliative Care, 1670 South Boulevard in Baraboo, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

MADISON, Wis. – On Thursday, August 24, Agrace Hospice Care at 5395 E. Parkway, Madison, is hosting a reception for Adams Outdoor Advertising of Madison. Adams is being recognized for its on-going initiative called “Collaborate” which provides selected non-profits with a year-long branding campaign. The free campaign includes art-work, space, and production services valued at $250,000.

After Donna Tollefson lost her only child, Crystal Evanson, who was 29, to a heroin overdose in March, she couldn’t focus only on her grief.
She had to make sure Evanson’s daughter — Natalie, 8, whom Tollefson is now raising — could mourn. But that wasn’t easy.
“I wasn’t prepared to explain it to her and help her deal with the pain,” said Tollefson, 59, of Mount Horeb. “You shouldn’t have to help your granddaughter grieve for her mother.”

The business case for diversity and inclusion is increasingly evident, but best practices are still a work in progress.
When economic development officials talk to out-of-state businesses that are pondering a move to the south-central region, workforce is always at the top of their list — most often number one. Since we’re talking about people and populations, and those populations are gradually changing the demographic face of Greater Madison, it’s safe to say that workforce diversity and inclusion fit hand-in-glove with economic development.
Fortunately, more local for-profit and nonprofit employers understand that their future workforce growth will come from women and people of color.

FITCHBURG, Wis. – Employees’ concern for patients who need help paying for end-of-life care is the impetus behind a new local fundraiser in Fitchburg. On Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017, Agrace Hospice & Palliative Care will hold its first Race for Agrace event—a grassroots effort that started with the compassionate concern of one Agrace nurse.
Proceeds from the one-mile fun walk and timed 5K run/walk will support the nonprofit’s Care for All program, which provides free or discounted services to patients who cannot afford Agrace’s quality end-of-life or palliative care. Anyone in the community can participate, and they will be walking or running alongside many Agrace staff, including Christine Hammer, R.N., who began organizing the Race for Agrace early this year.

The public is invited to the Waterloo American Legion at 7 p.m. Monday, July 24 for an informational meeting on hospice and palliative care services in private homes, skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. Michele Strauss from Agrace Hospice and Palliative Care agency will provide information in both caring for patients and their families, and in educating others about death, dying and grief.

WINDSOR (WKOW) — People are playing golf Saturday in honor of two men who died of cancer and to help others who need end of life care.
The Neumy Golf Outing at Lake Windsor Golf Club, raises money for Agrace HospiceCare in Madison. That’s where Randi Neumeyer was cared for before he passed away of melanoma cancer in 2002. The event is now in memory of him and his friend Paul Petersen, who died of lung cancer in 2004.
