With the right kind of reliable help, people living in rural areas and small towns like Reedsburg can safely remain in their own homes as they age. It’s welcome news for many, including those who no longer have family nearby for support.
Building on its 40 years’ experience caring for people in south central Wisconsin who are in the final months of life, Agrace HospiceCare is now offering a non-medical home care service in Sauk, Columbia, Adams and Juneau counties. Called “Age at Home by Agrace,” it helps people stay safe and independent in their homes as they age or as any physical limitation makes household chores and self-care too difficult. Age at Home is operating from Agrace’s Baraboo office, 1670 South Boulevard.
Age at Home offers a menu of non-medical services designed to help seniors with tasks that can challenge their independence as they age: personal care, housekeeping, meal preparation, laundry, medication reminders, errands, transportation and much more. With specialty services, such as overnight and live-in care, clients can personalize support to their needs and stay in control of their home and lifestyle, rather than depending on favors from family, friends and neighbors.
“When Agrace began to offer hospice services in Sauk and Columbia counties in 2013, we saw that people wanted to stay in their homes forever. But if the younger generations have moved away, many seniors don’t have enough family nearby for support,” says Samantha Minor, Age at Home’s homecare consultant who lives in Reedsburg. “We built Age at Home so that local caregivers can come in a few days a week and keep a client in their home more long-term. We can help with chores, companionship, transportation—whatever gets in the way of them living independently.”
Age at Home clients have the flexibility to schedule and pay for just the services they want. Services are provided by kind, capable staff who are thoroughly screened, very well-trained, and backed by the resources of Agrace, an organization trusted for compassionate care throughout southern Wisconsin.
