With more than a decade of experience caring for people in southwest Wisconsin who are in the final months of life, Agrace Hospice Care is celebrating the completion of its new Dodgeville office location.
The community is invited to a Dodgeville Chamber ribbon cutting ceremony and open house at Agrace, 316 W. Spring Street in Dodgeville on Wednesday, May 24, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with the Chamber ribbon cutting at 4:45 p.m. Immediately following the ribbon cutting, attendees are welcome to join the Dodgeville Chamber “5:01 Connect” meeting at Agrace. All are welcome.
Agrace is located in the Springate Mall next to Piggly Wiggly.
Community members are invited to stop in during the open house for light refreshments and to learn how Agrace supports the community through in-home hospice care, supportive (palliative) care, grief support and more. Volunteer coordinators will also be on hand to talk with anyone who would like information about becoming an Agrace volunteer to support local patients.
The Agrace office in Dodgeville is the home base of staff serving patients in Grant, Iowa Lafayette, Crawford and Richland counties. Agrace started in Madison, where it has offered end-of-life care for 45 years. Opening an office in Dodgeville is a decision passionately supported by Agrace staff who grew up in or now live in the area, including Nicole Simmons, a registered nurse and home care operations manager who lives in Dodgeville. “As someone with a long history of working for Agrace, opening our office in Dodgeville makes me so proud and excited. We now have a welcoming space where our care teams can gather and collaborate to fulfill our mission of providing the best possible care to our local community,” Simmons said.
Anyone can refer a patient to Agrace. People in need of care do not need to wait for a doctor’s referral to contact us and ask about Agrace’s care. We admit patients to hospice care seven days a week, including holidays. For questions about hospice or to request an informational visit, call (608) 276-4660 or visit Agrace.org/Refer.
Volunteers sought: Agrace has an immediate need for volunteers in southwest Wisconsin for administrative help and to visit hospice patients and their families. Visiting a patient may involve activities such as reading aloud, playing a game or helping with a hobby, assisting with light housekeeping, running an errand, making a light meal or snack, or simply being there as a caring presence.
Prospective volunteers will complete an application and interview, then attend free orientation and training to help them be successful in their role. No previous experience is necessary. Call Agrace at (608) 276-4660 for information or to get started.
