Hosting an event focused on food and drink sampling takes a special kind of creativity when the very people who want to sip and sample—can’t actually come to the party.
Such are the limits of the pandemic. However, Agrace has found a solution: On Friday, May 14, Agrace’s annual wine- and beer-tasting event Sips & Sounds will take place virtually. Anyone who supports Agrace’s mission—or just loves food and wine—can join this traditional event in a new way—from the comfort of their own home.
Sips & Sounds registrants will each receive a box filled with samples from local wineries and Wisconsin-based distributors and breweries, delectable treats, and information to access the event’s virtual program and silent auction. Boxes are $60 per person and can be picked up at Agrace in Janesville before the May event. Attendees must be at least 21 years old.
The program will begin May 14 at 6 p.m., with tasting tips, music vignettes from local musicians, and a cooking presentation featuring Janesville Country Club Chef Tim Fulford. An online auction will be open May 11 through May 16, for anyone who wants to browse and bid on packages from many local businesses.
Every day, Agrace helps nearly 1,500 patients and clients across southern Wisconsin who are aging, ill, dying or grieving. Event sponsorships and proceeds from Sips & Sounds help Agrace cover the cost of providing free or discounted care to local patients who have no other way to pay for compassionate end-of-life care and grief support.
Registration for Sips & Sounds is open through May 11 at Agrace.org/Sips. For more information about participating or becoming a sponsor, contact Cassie Hartje at (608) 314-2923 or cassie.hartje@agrace.org.
