Agrace has hired Bobbie Coons of Baraboo as its new development manager serving Sauk, Columbia and Iowa counties. Agrace is a nonprofit, community-supported health care organization providing hospice care, supportive care, adult day services, senior care and grief support to people who are aging, seriously ill, dying or grieving in southern Wisconsin.
As development manager, Coons is the main contact for local donors and helps them see the impact their gifts make in the community. She also partners with the other members of Agrace’s Baraboo-based team to coordinate educational presentations related to the issues of serious illness, death, dying and grief. Coons works with workplaces, civic clubs, faith groups and senior living communities who are interested in learning more about hospice and the ways Agrace can provide care and support throughout a serious illness. To request a presentation, contact Coons at (608) 712-7581.
Coons’ community experience includes serving as executive director for the Baraboo Area Chamber of Commerce and, most recently, as director of development for Circus World Museum Foundation. She has a Master of Arts degree from the University of Northern Iowa, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin–Platteville. She has served as an ambassador with the Baraboo Area Chamber of Commerce since 2019 and is involved in many local organizations, including the Baraboo Kiwanis and Baraboo Theatre Guild.
“Bobbie is dedicated to helping people in Sauk County and surrounding communities connect to the resources they need,” said Marcia Whittington, chief development officer for Agrace. “We’re so fortunate to have Bobbie bring her expertise and passion for this area to help support Agrace’s mission of taking care of local people during some of the most challenging times of their lives.”
Agrace began serving Sauk, Iowa and Columbia counties in 2013. Since then, Agrace’s Baraboo-based team, working from its 1670 South Boulevard office in Baraboo, has served hundreds of local hospice patients and their families. Agrace also provides community-based supportive (palliative) care services.
While hospice and palliative care services are paid for by Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurances, some patients do not have coverage for the care they need. As part of its nonprofit mission, Agrace does not turn any eligible patient away regardless of their ability to pay thanks to its Care for All charitable care program. Care for All is generously funded by community donations and proceeds from Agrace’s fundraising events.
One such event takes place locally each year: the A Round with Agrace golf outing at Trappers Turn Golf Club in Wisconsin Dells. To learn how to sponsor, attend or get involved with the next A Round with Agrace on July 28, 2022, visit Agrace.org/Events.
