Wish Comes True for 100-Year-Old Veteran

Compared with 100 years, 15 minutes is no time at all. But for two Madison-area World War II veterans, 15 minutes on Tuesday meant the world.

Preflight, U.S. Marine veteran Henry “Hank” Long and U.S. Army veteran Lew Harned shook hands, exchanging brief biographies lives and memories from the warthey have in common.
This was Long’s second Dream Flight and Harned’s third, so when the two aged warriors were wheeled into the hangar Tuesday, their expectations were cut and dried— a short safety discussion with the Dream Flights crew and their families, followed by two 15-minute flights over Dane County. Agrace Grief Support Specialists to Host Support Groups in July

Local adults and children living in southern Wisconsin who are grieving can find hope and healing with the help of grief support specialists at Agrace.

This July, grief specialists at the Agrace Grief Support Center, 2906 Marketplace Drive in Fitchburg, will host groups for adults who are grieving the death of a person. Wisconsin Hospice and Palliative Care Council: Applauds state Assembly for approving bill establishing a State Palliative Care Council

Today, the State Assembly approved Assembly Bill 23, a bill that would establish a state Palliative Care Council.  The Wisconsin Hospice and Palliative Care Association (WiHPCA) strongly supports this legislation, which would ultimately help increase awareness and utilization of this specialized type of medical care throughout the state. The Assembly Committee on Health, Aging, and Long-Term Care voted 14-1 on March 13 to recommend approval of this legislation. Continue Reading…

Beth Larson, the chief development officer of Agrace Foundation, visited WMTV on Tuesday and shared with us more about the work the non-profit does in the community.

‘Race for Agrace’ Comes to Janesville October 19; New run/walk brings a meaningful way to honor the memory of a loved one

If someone you know is aging, seriously ill, dying or grieving, they can turn to Agrace for support. A local, nonprofit, community-supported health care organization, Agrace is well-known for its compassionate hospice care, supportive (palliative) care and grief support throughout southwest Wisconsin.

To help ensure all area residents have access to its services, Agrace is holding its first Race for Agrace fundraiser in Janesville on Saturday, October 19. The family-friendly event includes a 5K run/walk and a 1-mile walk, and strollers are welcome on the course. Individuals and teams can race at 11 a.m. from Palmer Park in Janesville, or individually at any course of their choosing. Continue Reading…
