Agrace, a nonprofit health care provider, announced plans Tuesday to require COVID-19 vaccinations for all of its more than 1,600 employees and volunteers.
Employees will be required to get their first vaccination by Sept. 1 and their second by Oct. 1, if they’ve gotten Moderna of Pfizer. Roughly 90% of Agrace’s employees are already fully vaccinated.
“The delta variant of COVID‐19 is spreading rapidly and health care organizations nationwide have been called on to be leaders in vaccination efforts by mandating the COVID vaccine for their employees,” said Lynne Sexten, Agrace president and CEO. “As a health care organization, we have an ethical duty to protect those we serve. Agrace is joining the effort, alongside many large providers in Wisconsin, and mandating the COVID vaccination for all employees.”
Medical and religious exemptions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Agrace provides adult daycare, senior care, supportive care, hospice care and other services to people throughout southern Wisconsin.
The nonprofit is the latest health care provider to announce required COVID-19 vaccines. Many major Wisconsin-based providers — including UW Health, SSM Health and UnityPoint Health — have announced vaccine requirements for employees.
