Agrace HospiceCare to Host Volunteer Fair in Rockford on July 28

ROCKFORD, ILL. — In just a few hours a week, hospice volunteers make a difference in the lives of people receiving end-of-life care, and help patients’ families, too.

Agrace Hospice & Palliative Care, a nonprofit, community hospice serving patients and families in northern Illinois, will host a volunteer information fair Friday, July 28. The event will take place at Agrace’s Rockford office, 7290 Argus Drive.

Agrace has an immediate need for volunteers 18 or older to provide companionship and support to its patients and their families living in Stephenson, Winnebago, Boone and McHenry counties in northern Illinois.

March 25 Volunteer Fair Lets Public Explore Agrace’s Volunteer Opportunities

JANESVILLE, Wis. – Agrace Hospice & Palliative Care, Janesville’s nonprofit community hospice, has several fulfilling volunteer opportunities that allow you to give back, brighten a life and make a positive difference.

Agrace invites the community to learn more about volunteer roles and opportunities at a volunteer fair that will be held Saturday, March 25, from 10 a.m. to noon at Agrace’s Janesville Thrift Store, located at 2043 Humes Rd. Staff and current volunteers will be on hand to discuss Agrace’s volunteer roles.

Veteran to Veteran: Volunteer Makes Special Connection While Delivering Meal to Janesville Patient

On Friday, November 11th, Tom Cornelius was given a special assignment.  It was Veteran’s Day, and Tom—an Army veteran and Agrace volunteer—was asked to deliver a Celebration of Life meal to hospice patient and fellow veteran living in Janesville.

Tom recently celebrated nine years volunteering at Agrace, making him a veteran volunteer, but he’s also a military veteran. Born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas, Tom was drafted into the military on his 20th birthday.  He served in the Army from 1953-1955 during the Korean War.  When asked about his military experience he said, “It was a commitment, a privilege, a good experience and I wouldn’t give it up for anything.”
