As documented by the Bureau of Justice Statistics there are approximately 7.3 million people in the United States under some form of correctional supervision with close to 2.5 million inmates in our nation’s jails and prisons. Over 50% of prison inmates have mental health problems and learning disabilities. Up to 90% are from single parent homes, most often fatherless. 85% were neglected as children. A large percentage of inmates have been abused and molested. 75% have failed to finish high school.

Man to Man Prison Ministry is a group of mature Christian men who are committed to visiting men incarcerated at Washington Correction Center (WCC) in Shelton, Washington. We know that, to grow to spiritual maturity and unity, we must edify one another in the context of godly relationships. We understand we must lay aside our preconceived ideas and prejudices and see prison inmates through the eyes of Jesus Christ. We minister to the in the inmate population as an act of service to our Lord, knowing that Christ’s words in Matthew 25:31-46, 28:19-20, & Revelations 3:5 are current and relevant today. We believe the best way to restore a man, a family, and community is to transform the people within the community and we know by experience that restorative change can only come through a personal ongoing relationship with Jesus Christ.

As Volunteers we match man to man with an inmate, get to know him, and become a friend that will help him overcome an irresponsible lifestyle. We become a role model for the inmate, modeling Christ, and using God‘s Word as a blueprint and road map to show the inmate he too can live and be responsible within a community.

Man to Man Ministry is a group of men whose desire it is to befriend and mentor male inmates. We meet the 2nd Sunday of each month, 6-8:30 p.m. in the Chapel within the prison.
